Undefeated Irish Super Bantamweight and Crusaders fan , Carl ‘The Jackal’ Frampton , made it 10 wins out of 10 with a hard-earned points win over the awkward Welshman , Robbie Turley in Cardiff last night.
Despite pre fight bookies odds making Carl 1/14 favourite to retain his Celtic title, he was pushed all the way by his granite chinned and resilient opponent.
Carl , who sports the club badges of his beloved Crusaders and Midland B.C. on his shorts, was filmed pre fight wearing his Crusaders jersey in an interview on Sky Sports ringside with mentor and Irish ring legend , Barry McGuigan.
The classier punching was always from the fists of Frampton, but Turley made a better fight of it than many had predicted. If he ever needed a ring nickname it should be ‘The Hemorrhoid‘ , he’s extremely irritating and hard to shift.
Despite being pushed the ten rounds, enduring a cut by his right eye and having a point deducted for hitting after the bell (which cancelled out an adjudged knockdown by way of a slip-come-punch) all three judges at ringside scored the contest in his unanimous favour.
The contest was billed as a British Title eliminator, so onwards and upwards for ‘The jackal‘ , no doubt his stock is on the rise, just like his team in Red and Black.
